Being Grateful

This year my word is “grateful”, so I’m focusing daily on looking for random acts of generosity that the kids and I can do throughout the day. Saying hello to strangers, holding open doors, helping people pick up things they drop, buying someone a cup of coffee or giving them a Starbucks gift card, bringing in my neighbor’s trash cans and watching friends’ kiddos are just a few of my favorite ways to give back. I have been given so much by God and this is just one of the life lessons I try to daily teach our kiddos. Some of my kiddos are honestly half empty kind of people and so I’m trying to show them how being gracious can actually help them be more grateful.

Today we saw a mama outside of Walmart with her two kiddos asking for money for food for them. We rolled down the window and I had my girl pass them our rotisserie chicken. My five year old was sad that this mama had to beg for food, so we prayed that God would provide for them and we got to talk about how God gives us everything we need so we can give things away and not be stingy.

Gratefulness I find also comes from having the mindset that there is always something to be grateful for.  Recently I was thankful for a couple of hours alone with my hubby because with him being an Army Chaplain our dates are few and far between.

In true Winbolt style, we went to Costco.

Some of my friends stated this wasn’t a real date location but when you have four kiddos, homeschool, run a business...2 hours away anywhere is seriously heaven! Plus, we had everything we needed...a food court, coffee, clothes shopping, more food and flowers!😅

My point...be thankful, cherish your time with your loved ones and make the best of every opportunity! 💕

“In everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
