Do you love you?
I haven’t always been comfortable in my own skin....growing up I was “stocky”, very shy, and I always felt self conscious. I was afraid of trying new things, hated speaking in front of others, I would never go anywhere alone and I was a compulsive people pleaser. 💕
Yet, in His goodness, God grabbed a hold of me when I was a young teenager and my sisters and I started going to church and youth group for the first time ever. There, God showed me how His Bible is just a love letter to reveal to all of us how He is constantly working to draw people to Himself. I finally learned how He created me perfectly in His image and loves me & thinks of me ( and YOU!) more than there are grains of sand!! (Psalm 139:17-18).
Over the past 30 years, He has brought me through this journey of life and has shown me how I am HIS...which is so freeing, friends! Because what that means is I don’t need the approval of men (or women), to find my purpose or be joyful. I am beautiful because HE made me exactly how HE wanted and in His image, so I don’t need to look or act a certain way for people to like me. In fact my purpose is to glorify God in all I do: “Whether, then, you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:30) and to love Him and love others (Mark 12:30).
So, I try to put everything I do through that test...is it going to glorify God and help others feel loved? I don’t need to choose roles or jobs that other people think are best for me, I just need to pray and use the gifts God has given me to bless others. Life is too short to be insecure and worry about what people think. Friends, you are loved and just as God intended you to be, so let’s live life fully and with joy. I encourage you to use this same filter before making decisions and just worry about pleasing God and “doing you!” I promise, living life with the confidence that comes from God alone is so much more freeing and fun!💕
